Iowa was two games away from basketball immortality, something Iowa fans have not heard for nearly 40 years.

The Hawkeyes made everyone in the state of Iowa believe in the program once again, giving fans something to cheer about for the first time in a long time, thanks to Ben McCollum.

McCollum's no-nonsense, hard-nosed coaching style resonated with his players, making them fight hard in every game. Win or lose, McCollum stayed the same and pushed his players to be better by holding them accountable.

Even after Iowa's loss, McCollum was hard on himself, and made an interesting revelation about what he is going to do next.

McCollum had a humorous response to what comes next for him

McCollum hates losing more than anyone, and he knows that building a foundation of accountability starts at the top with him and the coaching staff.

After Iowa's season was ended by Illinois, McCollum chuckled as he told reporters what he is going to do immediately after the loss.

Not only did McCollum say he isn't going to sleep, but he said he is going to go back and watch film to see why he messed up.

You gotta love a head coach who doesn't back down from a challenge and is willing to take fault for a loss, even if it wasn't entirely his fault.

McCollum has preached hard work and accountability since his first day in Iowa City, but statements like that are what make players and fans want to run through a brick wall for him.

If McCollum retains some key players and grabs some depth and talent from the recruiting trail and transfer portal, there is no doubt Iowa will be right back in the thick of things next season.
