The early signing window for college basketball recruits is already open for the 2026 class, but very few of the top prospects have signed.
Ben McCollum and the Iowa coaching staff had only one player committed in the 2026 recruiting class before he reclassified in order to join the team this season.
Trey Thompson was Iowa's lone 2026 recruit, but after he reclassified, the program currently has no other players signed in the class.
McCollum and his staff have been diligently monitoring and offering some of the top talent in the class, but have yet to sign anyone.
In the past, McCollum has been clear about the type of players he is looking for, and the prospects the program has offered have stayed true to that.
Before Iowa's challenging two-game stretch against Illinois at home (Jan. 11) and Purdue on the road (Jan. 16), the program got some good news from the recruiting trail for the 2027 class.

Rivals has ranked Daughtry as a four-star prospect, Florida's No. 5 overall prospect, the No. 4 point guard prospect, and the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

Daughtry can start on day one for McCollum
After Bennett Stirtz graduates at the end of this season, the Hawkeyes will still have Kael Combs and Isaia Howard, but they will need a star to replace Stirtz's production.
Daughtry is a high-volume scorer that also excels on the defensive end, and is the type of player that McCollum loves.
The best part is he wants is he wants to visit the program, so there is definitely interest on both sides.
He currently has 23 offers, but he has clearly been impressed but what Ben McCollum and the coaching staff are building in Iowa City.
