If we have learned anything from Ben McCollum's short time at the Division I level, it is that his squad relies on a dynamic point guard.
Luckily for McCollum, the point guard on both his previous and current team has been Bennett Stirtz.
Stirtz made the jump from Division II Northwest Missouri State to Division I Drake last season and made an immediate impact.
He was named the Missouri Valley Conference's Player and Newcomer of the Year and has carried that momentum into his first and only season in the Big Ten.
Stirtz is gone after this year, and the program has been hitting the recruiting trail hard to find the next point guard to lead the charge.
2027 four-star guard prospect Jalen Brown got an offer from Iowa
Elite point guards are a necessity in the Big Ten, and without Stirtz, the program has been offering multiple prospects with similar skill sets.

Jalen Brown, a talented 2027 point guard prospect from just up north in Wisconsin, announced he received an offer from the Hawkeyes.
Brown is a rising point guard in the 2027 class after a dynamic sophomore season in 2024-2025.
During his sophomore year, Brown averaged 22.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, showcasing his all-around talent.
247Sports currently ranks Brown as a four-star prospect, Wisconsin's No. 3 overall prospect, the No. 9 combo guard prospect, and the No. 64 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
Rivals ranked Brown as a four-star prospect, Wisconsin's No. 6 overall prospect, the No. 20 shooting guard prospect, and the No. 90 overall prospect.
Brown oozes talent and would give Ben McCollum and the Iowa program a huge start in the 2027 recruiting class.
