A familiar face is back in Iowa City to support her former team before they take on Fairleigh Dickinson in the first round of the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

Shortly after learning they were a two-seed in the Tournament, the Hawkeyes also learned they will play in front of sold-out crowds for the first and second rounds in Iowa City.

As they diligently prepare for their first of hopefully many games in the Tournament, a former Hawkeye and recent WNBL champion made a surprise visit to campus to show her continuing support for her former team.

It has been an amazing year for former Hawkeye Lucy Olsen after her dynamic senior season with the Hawkeyes ended in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

The Washington Mystics selected Olsen with the No. 23 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, and she became a solid part of their bench unit.

After the WNBA season concluded, Olsen headed to Australia to continue playing in the offseason, and helped guide the Townsville Fire to a WNBL Championship, and was named the Sixth Woman of the Year.

Despite all of that, she is still a huge Hawkeye supporter and is back in Iowa City to show her former squad some love.

Even though Olsen was only a member of the basketball program for one season, she made a lasting impact on her teammates, fans and coaches.

No matter where her basketball journey takes her, "Big Lu" will always be a valued member of the Iowa family.
