After a weekend series sweep over Indiana, Iowa Baseball is rolling!

A 7-4 win in the series finale not only gave manager Rick Heller his 1,100th career win, but pushed Iowa's record to 26-16 (10-11 Big Ten), good for fifth in the Big Ten standings.

Iowa's offense was hot in the series against Indiana, batting .282 as a team and driving in 28 total runs.

While the weekend went extremely well for Heller's club, they got some bad news regarding a rising star's injury status.

Catcher Carter Geffre will miss the rest of the season

Iowa's offense has not been a problem for the squad this season, ranking No. 2 in the Big Ten Conference in team batting average (.314), No. 3 in total hits (450), No. 3 in on-base percentage (0.415), and No. 4 in slugging (0.499).

Even though Iowa's offense has been solid to this point in the season, an injury to a rising star could take some bite out of the lineup.

According to On3 Sports' Kyle Huesmann, redshirt freshman catcher/pitcher Carter Geffre will miss the rest of the season with a hand injury.

After redshirting in 2024, Geffre emerged as Iowa's No.1 catcher following the early stages of the season.

Geffre, a former star for Ames High School in Ames, Iowa, made 18 starts for the Hawkeyes this season, batting .318 with four home runs, four doubles, and 22 runs batted in (RBI).

Geffre had become a huge offensive spark for the Hawkeyes, and Heller now has the difficult task of replacing his offensive production.

Luckily for the squad, they are deep at the catcher position, with redshirt sophomore Max Burt and North Alabama transfer Matthew Delgado expected to handle most of the catching duties for the remainder of the season.
