It's been a little too quiet for Iowa Men's Basketball through the first week of the transfer portal window.

Ben McCollum and the program have lined up multiple visits with talented transfers, including Washington State transfer guard Ace Glass III and Saint Mary's transfer center Andrew McKeever, but nothing has happened just yet.

Iowa is biding its time, trying to find the right player to match the system and expectations McCollum has set, but if there is one area Iowa has been focused on, it's the guard position.

The program has shown interest in multiple transfer guards, but one player who just hit the open market should be at the top of McCollum's priority list.

Hofstra transfer Cruz Davis gives Iowa exatly what they are looking for

Bennett Stirtz did everything for the Hawkeyes on offense last season, scoring at a high and efficient rate, and the ball was in his hands on every possession.

A similar guard with a matching skillset is now in the portal, and Iowa must be one of the first to give him a call.

Veteran guard and last season's CAA Player of the Year, Cruz Davis, became a massive addition to the transfer portal.

Davis began his career with Iona before heading to Saint John's for a season, and then Hofstra for the last two.

In his career, Davis has compiled 1,327 total points on 42.5 percent shooting from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 335 total assists.

He had his best season last year, averaging 20.1 points per game on 44 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc. He also added 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

Davis can give Iowa a veteran leader who can score at all three levels and effectively dish the basketball to teammates. His game mirrors Stirtz's game, and he could immediately fill the huge void that Stirtz left.

Davis will be a hot commodity in the transfer portal, and Iowa needs to engage with him immediately.
