If you thought Iowa was finished signing players from the portal, you are mistaken.

With only two days left in the transfer portal window, the Hawkeyes are still trying to add depth to the roster for next season.

Iowa has currently signed 11 players through the portal after losing eight, and are not stopping there.

This week, the Hawkeyes are hosting another transfer wide receiver after already signing Tony Diaz (UTRGV) and Evan James (Furman), and to no one's surprise, he has multiple years of remaining eligibility.

According to On3 Sports' Blair Sanderson, Southern Methodist University (SMU) transfer wide receiver Lance Beeghley is visiting the Iowa program this week.

Beeghley redshirted his freshman year (2024) and did not see any game action last season as a redshirt freshman for the Mustangs.

Beeghley's potential signing is purely about depth

Beeghley was originally part of SMU's 2024 recruiting class, redshirted his freshman year, and then entered the transfer portal after his redshirt freshman season.

Rivals originally ranked Beeghley as a three-star prospect out of New Braunfels High School in New Braunfels, Texas, signaling the Hawkeyes are taking a chance solely based on what he did in high school.

Iowa's transfer portal strategy has been very clear from the start, racking up players with multiple years of eligibility remaining.

There is very little, if any, college game film on Beeghley, meaning the Iowa program is looking at him for untapped potential and to contribute down the road if he commits.

Regardless of where Beeghley signs, he will have three years of eligibility remaining.
