It wasn’t pretty but the Iowa football team defeated Purdue yesterday afternoon. Here are five observations from the victory.

Yesterday’s game just felt gross. Yes, the Iowa football team won and that’s ultimately all that matters, but I expected so much more.

Purdue is about as broken of a football team as you can get in college football right now and they have won just two games. They also had to come to Kinnick to play.

Yet, the Hawks beat them by just six points.

I don’t expect perfection from this team, but after struggling the last two weeks, I thought this team would appear to be a bit more fired up for this game. I also thought they would have done a better job of cleaning up their issues from before, but they haven’t.

Even the defense, the biggest strength of this team, appeared to have a few chinks in its armor, which made me leave this game worried about the rest of the season instead of happy about the win, but I’ll be touching on all of that here with my five observations from yesterday.
