The Hawkeyes and Cyclones have had many memorable moments over the 71 seasons the teams have matched up on the gridiron.

In 2017, the Hawkeyes won 44-41 in overtime thanks to the heroics of quarterback Nate Stanley.

The triple overtime thriller in 2011, where the matchup went back-and-forth all game, but was finally heartbreakingly won by the Cyclones.

Over the years, the games have been extremely close, including the last three games that have been decided by seven points or less in each game.

You never know what you are going to get when these two teams take the field, but what we do know is that you can throw out rankings and home-field advantage.

Another unknown is who will rise to the occasion as an unlikely hero for either side.

Last season, it was freshman kicker Kyle Konrardy who nailed a 54-yard field goal in the waning moments of the game to seal the victory for the Cyclones.

In 2015, it was Riley McCarron, who only caught one pass for 25 yards, but it was for a touchdown, and sealed the game for the Hawkeyes.

During this year's version of the Cy-Hawk rivalry game, another Hawkeye receiver will make an impact on this game, and it might not be who you think.

Why Kaden Wetjen will make a big impact this Saturday

Iowa senior receiver Kaden Wetjen has been primarily used as a return specialist during his time with the Hawkeye program, and for good reason.

Last season, Wetjen amassed 1,055 total return yards (328 punt, 727 kick) and two touchdowns, securing the Jet Award as the best return specialist in college football.

This season, second-year offensive coordinator Tim Lester has worked Wetjen into the passing game, and it has produced results.

Despite the Hawkeyes' putrid passing attack in Week One, Wetjen still managed to catch the only touchdown pass from Mark Gronowski.

During the Cy-Hawk game on Saturday, the Hawkeye offense will open up the playbook and get Wetjen out in space. He will lead the team in receptions, and will haul in another touchdown pass this week.
