It is well-known that Iowa is dubbed "Tight End U," and the program continues to add to that by snagging talented prospects from the recruiting trail.
Breakout star tight end DJ Vonnahme looks like the next in a long line of talented tight ends after he led the offense in receiving in 12 games, with only five starts. Vonnahme took advantage of his opportunity with multiple injuries to the group, and he is poised to lead the unit next season. Iowa also added tight end Jaxx DeJean in the 2027 class, and isn't stopping there.
The Hawkeyes are jumping on recruitment for 2029 prospect Hank Doyle
Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeye program are very deliberate on the recruiting trail, and they don't just hand out offers to everyone. After hosting multiple talented prospects during the recent "Hawkeye Tailgater," a massive 2029 prospect went home with an offer.
Blessed to be offered from @HawkeyeFootball at the Hawkeye Tailgater!#AGTG

Doyle, a six-foot-six, 215-pound prospect from Grafton, Wisconsin, announced he received an offer after attending the event and was extremely impressed by his short time in Iowa City. Following the event, Doyle told On3 Sports that he is "very happy and extremely pleased with all things Iowa," capped off with the offer he received from tight ends coach Abdul Hodge. Doyle is coming off a stellar freshman season at Grafton High School and already holds multiple offers.
Doyle currently holds offers from Iowa, Northwestern, Miami (OH), Purdue, and Wisconsin, and that list will grow before his recruitment is over. Doyle is a versatile prospect who plays tight end and defensive line, and also has great hands and speed for his size. He has the typical size that Iowa loves to have in either spot, and he must have made a lasting impression during his visit, because he still has three more high school football seasons before he gets to college.
It is easy to see why Iowa would jump into the fray early on: Doyle has great size and hands, and is still very young. He still has plenty of time to develop, and the program is banking on the hope he will continue to improve. It is still very early in his recruitment process, but Iowa's getting involved so early proves they are very interested in the big man from just up north in Wisconsin.
