Iowa Women's Basketball has started then season on a tear, winning nine of 10 games.
The Hawkeyes' only loss this season came at the hands of rival Iowa State in a heartbreaking defeat in Ames on December 10.
The Iowa women have opened some eyes early in the season and are starting to make headlines for their stellar play.
While Iowa's on-court play is garnering more attention, it is the off-court news that is troubling a lot of Hawkeye fans.
Earlier this week, Head Coach Jan Jensen gave an injury update for transfer Emely Rodriguez, but it was the follow-up question that has everyone spooked.
Jensen stated that Rodriguez is "day-to-day," but when she was pressed about why Rodriguez was not on the bench during the victory over Lindenwood and if she is still a part of the team, Jensen would only say, "She is for now, yeah."
Everyone knew Rodriguez was dealing with a lingering back issue, but Jensen's response leads us to believe something is going on behind the scenes that was not made public.
On Thursday afternoon, we learned more information surrounding Rodriguez's status, and it is not good.

On3 Sports' Talia Goodman reported that a source told her that Rodriguez is not making the trip to New York for Iowa's pivotal matchup against No. 1 UConn, and went a step further.
According to Goodman, the source told her that Rodriguez has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.
Goodman followed that up by saying the source also stated that Rodriguez has the opportunity to rejoin the squad if she recommits to Iowa's standards.
The news has gone from bad to worse for Rodriguez and the women's basketball program, as Rodriguez had seemingly found a great fit with the team.
If the situation escalates and Rodriguez is dismissed from the team, that will be a massive blow to Iowa's depth as they compete for a Big Ten title and an extended run in the NCAA Tournament.
