Iowa FINALLY picked up a signature win on the road.
The Hawkeyes were still picking up the pieces after a heartbreaking loss to Purdue, in which they led for most of the game.
Iowa stayed in Indiana for another road game against the Hoosiers in Bloomington, and never trailed in the game.
The closest the game got was 2-2 in the early stages of the game, but the Hawkeyes were firing on all cylinders in a wire-to-wire 74-57 victory over Indiana.
While the win was impressive, what is equally impressive is the play of senior guard/forward Tavion Banks.
Banks has become Iowa's clear No. 2 option
Banks fell just short of his career-high in points against Indiana with 26, but the senior has been impressive for the Hawkeyes during their most recent stretch of games.
In Iowa's loss to Illinois, Banks led the team in scoring with 16 points and was singled out by Head Coach Ben McCollum after the game.
McCollum praised his effort while criticizing the rest of the team, and what was even more impressive about Banks' performance is that he was suffering from the flu.
McCollum stated that Banks had lost close to 10 pounds and was vomiting before and after the game.
Banks has now scored in double figures in six of the last ten games, and has become Iowa's No. 2 scoring option behind star guard Bennett Stirtz.
Banks is not only Iowa's No. 2 scoring option, but is its best perimeter defender, locking down the opposing team's best players.
During the offseason and at points this season, questions lingered about who Iowa's second option was behind Stirtz.
Banks has answered those questions and then some with his recent stellar stretch of play.
