Former Hawkeye Keegan Murray just got paid!
Murray has been a solid contributor since joining the Sacramento Kings organization in 2022 after they selected him with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
Before joining the Kings, Murray was a star for the Hawkeyes for two years from 2020 to 2022. He declared for the NBA Draft after a dynamic 2021-2022 season.
As a sophomore for the Hawkeyes in 2021-2022, Murray led the team in multiple statistical categories, including points per game (23.5), rebounds per game (8.7), blocks (68), and steals (45).
Murray also broke the single-season scoring record for the Iowa program, scoring 822 points in a season.
After a stellar sophomore season, Murray became the first Hawkeye to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft since Ricky Davis was selected No. 21 overall in the 1998 NBA Draft.
Murray has been with the Kings since 2022 and was entering the final year of his rookie contract. On Wednesday, Murray got the bag from the Kings to stay with the organization.

First reported by ESPN senior NBA insider, Shams Charania, Murray and the Kings agreed to a five-year, $140 million rookie contract extension.
Murray's new contract secures his future in Sacramento through the 2030-2031 season.
Murray burst onto the NBA scene as a rookie, finishing No. 5 in the 2022 rookie of the year voting, and was named an All-NBA Rookie in 2022.
He is also one of only three players to achieve 500 three-pointers made, 150 blocks, and 150 steals during the last three seasons. The other two players are Anthony Edwards and Derrick White.
Murray has also been extremely durable throughout his NBA career. That will change this season as he will be sidelined for the first four to six weeks of the 2025-2026 NBA season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb.
During the first three years of his career, Murray has averaged 13.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
