Iowa Football and Australian punters are like peanut butter and jelly. They just go together

The Iowa special teams room needed to be completely revamped following the 2025 season for multiple reasons.

Long-time special teams coordinator LeVar Woods headed to East Lansing, Michigan, to work with new head coach Pat Fitzgerald, and the starting placekicker and punter are also gone.

Kicker Drew Stevens graduated, and starting punter Rhys Dakin entered the transfer portal, following Woods to Michigan State, leaving multiple holes in Iowa's special teams unit.

Iowa replaced Woods with defensive analyst Chris Polizzi, added kicker Eli Ozick and punter Tanner Philpott from the transfer portal, but the program didn't stop there.

Australian punter Boston Everitt signed with Iowa, will compete for snaps

After Division III All-American punter Tanner Philpott committed to the Hawkeyes, it was reported that Iowa wanted to bring in another punter to compete for starting snaps.

If you know the Iowa program, you know they had to go to Australia to grab another punter, and they found the punter of the future.

In a lengthy and appreciative post on X, Boston Everitt announced he is joining the Iowa football program next season while completing his premedical studies.

According to "Inside Punting" founder Mackenzie Morgan, Everitt was one of the best punters left on the market, and he is able to hit spirals and rollout punts "better than anyone" on the market.

Everitt is 19 years old from Melbourne, Australia, and will join the Hawkeyes with all four years of eligibility remaining.

With Philpott also joining the roster next season, there will be a competition for starting snaps, with both players getting a chance now that Dakin is with Michigan State.
