The Hawkeye men are enjoying a nice nine-day holiday break before capping off 2025 with a home game against UMass Lowell.

Under new Head Coach Ben McCollum, the Iowa Men's Basketball program has found new life after multiple bad seasons under the previous coaching regime.

McCollum has not only tried to rebuild the program, but a disengaged fanbase as well.

The program was starting to lose fans after multiple poor seasons drove them away, and McCollum has consistently stated that the program can only succeed with the help of everyone, not just within the basketball program.

A big part of rebuilding the program is on the recruiting trail, and McCollum and his staff have been doing their due diligence on multiple top prospects for future classes.

Even though Iowa has been on holiday break, scouting has not, and the program has maintained an active presence at the City of Palms Basketball Classic in Fort Myers, Florida.

The City of Palms Classic is a chance for multiple top high school basketball prospects to showcase their abilities, and the Hawkeye program has been in constant contact with several intriguing prospects.

According to League Ready's Sam Kayser, 2027 point guard prospect Kevin Savage III said Iowa is among a handful of programs that have been consistently reaching out.

Savage is coming off a solid performance at the City of Palms Classic, showcasing his two-way abilities by affecting the game on both ends of the floor.

Savage is currently a junior at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, and is one of the best point guard prospects in the class.

Rivals has ranked Savage as a four-star prospect, Georgia's No. 8 overall prospect, the No. 19 point guard prospect, and the No. 75 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

247Sports also has Savage as a four-star prospect, Georgia's No. 4 overall prospect, the No. 7 point guard prospect, and the No. 31 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

Iowa's star point guard Bennett Stirtz is in the final year of his college eligibility, and Savage could give the Hawkeyes a backcourt staple for the future.
