Even a record-setting 2025 season was not enough for an NFL organization to take a chance on Drew Stevens.
During Iowa's thrilling 25-24 victory over Penn State last season, Stevens made his 68th career field goal, passing the great Nate Kaeding for most in Iowa program history.
He led the team in scoring with 107 total points and earned an All-Big Ten Third-Team selection, but his inconsistency ultimately cost him a chance at being drafted.
Even though he wasn't selected, the door isn't closed on his NFL future just yet.
Stevens has the perfect chance to make an NFL roster after receiving a minicamp invite
Stevens showcased his big leg and ability to nail field goals from 50-plus yards with ease, but after going undrafted, a prime opportunity presented itself with an invitation from the Washington Commanders.

According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, Stevens received a rookie minicamp invitations from the Commanders, giving him a chance to compete for a spot on the roster.
Even though it is extremely hard to make a 53-man roster, especially as an undrafted free agent, the invitation is a unique opportunity.
The Commanders began the 2025 season with Matt Gay as their kicker, but after inconsistent play, he was cut, and they signed Jake Moody off the Chicago Bears' practice squad. Moody had a good rookie season in 2023, but had a horrible 2024 season.
He performed well for the Bears and Commanders in limited duty last season and was brought back on a one-year deal. With Moody as the only kicker on the roster and on a short contract, Stevens could push for the starting spot and send Moody packing.
Moody has completed 78 percent of his field goal attempts in the NFL, below Stevens ' 80 percent conversion rate at Iowa, and Stevens has a much better leg.
If Stevens can overcome some of the poor ball striking and inconsistencies he suffered at Iowa, he could easily push Moody for the starting spot next season.
