We are three weeks removed from Michigan's week-one win over Western Michigan, and some aren't letting Michigan forget it.
The Wolverines have been less than convincing through the first three weeks of the season, but they are 3-0. One of those victories came in a nail-biting finish against Western Michigan, where they received a gift from the referees and a last-second Hail Mary to escape with a win. Michigan ultimately won 13-12, but the result hasn't sat well with some in the college football community. Now in week four, the storyline has lingered and resurfaced on the "College GameDay" set.
Johnny Knoxville took a veiled shot at Michigan while also picking them to win
You never know what you'll get from guest picker on "College GameDay," and actor Johnny Knoxville proved that. Knoxville was a strange choice to begin with, but he at least spiced things up. All the analysts on the set were adamant that Iowa-Michigan will be a low-scoring slugfest that will go down to the wire, so their picks were split 3-2 in favor of Michigan.

It wasn't surprising that former Michigan standout and extreme Michigan homer Desmond Howard, alongside former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit, both picked Michigan. Although Knoxville also picked Michigan, he didn't do it without taking a shot at them. Knoxville agreed that it will be a low-scoring affair, and the only way that changes is if Michigan does "that fun thing" where they add an extra second to the clock, so he has to pick Michigan. It was surprising that Howard didn't jump across the set at him.
In week one, Michigan struggled to put up points, letting Western Michigan hang around, and it almost cost them dearly. Western Michigan is a solid program, but Michigan was expected to roll over them. It didn't happen that way, and it looked like the Broncos were going to achieve the near-impossible feat of knocking off the Wolverines in week one. Unfortunately for Western Michigan, they didn't get their moment. Trailing 12-7 in the final seconds, Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood threw a Hail Mary into the end zone, but it fell incomplete. After the play, the refs ruled that a Western Michigan defender jumped from out of bounds to deflect the pass, adding an extra second back on the game clock.
Michigan was granted another chance and took advantage. Underwood's second Hail Mary was answered, and the Wolverines won 13-12. The college football world was shocked, and Michigan has been the butt of jokes since that questionable outcome. Although it has little to do with Iowa-Michigan in week four, it shows that people haven't forgotten and won't let Michigan forget either. Regardless of how anyone feels about Michigan, they are 3-0 and a massive test for Iowa in week four.
