The Iowa Hawkeyes have always been stout on special teams during the Kirk Ferentz era. The Hawkeyes even had star punter Tory Taylor drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Iowa has had incredible success on special teams over the past few seasons. This has led to Iowa fans adopting the phrase "punting is winning."
The Hawkeyes are returning three staples on special teams next season. Kicker Drew Stevens returns to Iowa after hitting 20 of 23 field goals last season. Iowa speedster and reigning Jet Award winner, Kaden Wetjen, is also returning after a stellar 2024-2025 season.
Punter Rhys Dakin is also returning after showing promise in his freshman season.
On Sunday, the Hawkeyes added a transfer long snapper to bolster their special teams unit.

Iowa added transfer long snapper Bryant Worrell after he spent last season with the Boston College Golden Eagles. In his only season with Boston College, Worrell played in 13 games as the long snapper for the Golden Eagles.
Before joining Boston College, Worrell began his career at the FCS level with Old Dominion. After his freshman season, he transferred to Division II Emory & Henry College.
In two seasons at Emory & Henry College, Worrell appeared in 14 games. He transferred to Boston College before the 2024-2025 season.
Before he began his college career, Kohl's Snapping ranked Worrell as a five-star snapper and the No. 11 overall long snapper in the 2020 recruiting class.
The Hawkeyes are trying to replace a special teams staple Luke Elkin after he entered the 2025 NFL Draft. Elkin appeared in 53 games in four seasons as the Hawkeyes' long snapper.
The Hawkeyes return redshirt freshman long snapper Ike Speltz, but Worrell gives Iowa more experience at the position and can mentor the younger Speltz.
Worrell has one year of remaining eligibility.
