The first two weeks of college football have been full of upsets, teams struggling against opponents no one thought they would, and teams not living up to the hype. There are some teams that people think should be panicking because things are not going according to plan.
Iowa is not exactly sitting comfortably right now after the loss to Iowa State. The loss brought up a lot of questions for both sides of the ball. Clearly, the defense doesn't have quite as many questions as the offense does, but there are still questions.
Even though we are just two weeks into the season, a bad start to a season can sometimes set the tone for the rest of the season. So here are three teams that probably have their hand on the panic button heading into Week 3.
This one might puzzle people, but it actually makes a lot of sense. There was so much hype around Oregon with them joining the Big Ten, getting Heisman favorite Dillon Gabriel in the transfer portal, and the Ducks bringing back a solid amount of key players.
However, in the first two weeks, even though they have won, their wins have not looked great. The Ducks won only by 10 points against Idaho in Week 1 and then it took a game-winning field goal as time expired to get past Boise State at home.
Gabriel has not looked quite like the Heisman favorite everyone was looking for this season and if he can't do it against the easier teams, how is he going to look against Big Ten opponents?
Oregon has some questions to answer and if they struggle in Week 3 against former Pac-12 opponents and in-state rival Oregon State, there is definitely reason to start panicking.
The Iowa Hawkeyes definitely have their hand on the panic button after giving away the game against Iowa State in Week 2. Now a 13-point lead may not seem like a big lead, but with a defense like Iowa's, it is enough. However, Iowa's offense completely stuttered in the second half against the Cyclones.
A lot of people wanted to jump on the hype train after the Hawkeyes put up 40 points on Illinois State in Week 1, but it was way too soon. After scoring just 13 points in the first half against Iowa State, the Iowa offense was only able to score one touchdown in the second half with a failed two-point conversion.
The fact that the Hawkeye defense also gave up 20 points in a half is not something that happens very often. The Iowa State offense was able to poke some holes in the defense and show some of its weak parts.
So with an offense that yet again could be the worst in the Big Ten and in the country, and now a defense that has shown its weaknesses, the hand should be on the panic button because if they struggle offensively against Troy, that button better get pushed after Week 3.
The Michigan Wolverines should already be pressing the panic button, not just preparing to press it. The way they looked against No. 3 Texas in the Big House was the opposite of what they wanted, but they showed what a lot of people thought they were going to look like this season.
The offense couldn't move the ball, the fact that Alex Orji was the projected starter and Sherone Moore decided to surprise everyone and go with Davis Warren who at this point has more interceptions than touchdown passes on the season, seems incredibly questionable.
As the reigning National Champions, former head coach Jim Harbaugh left a mess behind for Sherone Moore to clean up, without a contract up until today. Michigan is going to continue to struggle against great teams and the panic button should already be pressed.
