Iowa Hawkeyes sweep picks on College Gameday for Cy-Hawk showdown
Let's hope the College Gameday crew did not just jinx the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Every person on the College Gameday panel chose Iowa to win the Cy-Hawk Showdown today against Iowa State in Kinnick Stadium. While this seems like a great thing that everyone is behind the Hawkeyes, historically, when everyone picks one team, it seems to come back and jinx that team.
The Gameday crew did seem to think it was going to be a close game, but they seemed to think that as a whole, Iowa has the edge in today's game. The reason the Gameday crew gave Iowa the edge just might make you fall off your seat though.
While the defense was definitely an emphasis, all the analysts felt that with the way the offense looked last week in the second half, specifically the fact that Iowa now has receivers to through to, it will be the Cade McNamara, and the offense that will win this game.
Iowa is only favored to win this game by 2.5 points, but with how good the defense is, the analysts felt that when it comes down to offense against offense, Iowa is going to be able to get it done.
The biggest connection to watch today will be McNamara with his receivers yet again, more specifically his connection with freshman receiver Reece Vander Zee. Vander Zee led all the receivers last week with five receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns.
Let's see if the Gameday crew jinxed the Hawkeyes or not, all will be decided at 3:30 when Iowa State and Iowa kick-off.
