The Iowa Hawkeyes open up Big Ten play in Week 4 at Minnesota. This matchup between Minnesota and Iowa is one that fans feel very strongly about. Last season, when the Hawkeyes faced the Golden Gophers squared off, in the eyes of Iowa fans, the Hawkeyes won the game.
Cornerback and punt returner Cooper DeJean, who is now in the NFL after being drafted int he second round by the Philadelphia Eagles, fielded a punt and ran it back for a touchdown. AS all Hawkeye fans know, the refs said that DeJean called for a fair catch, when he clearly didn't. Minnesota went on to win the game 12-10 and that call ended up being crucial.
Even though it is a season later, Iowa fans are still salty about the call and they are looking at this matchup as a revenge game. Iowa is an early favorite in this game, but they are only favored by 2.5 points and that line could still be moved.
Men's basketball lands first 2026 commitment

The 6-foot-3 guard helped lead his team to a state championship last season, playing a combo guard role. Shabazz said he liked what the coaching staff and Iowa had to offer him, and that is why he chose the Hawkeyes.
