Look away Iowa fans, this one wasn't very pretty.

The Iowa Hawkeyes lost a heartbreaker to the Iowa State Cyclones on a late field goal when the Cyclones took a one-point lead with just five seconds left on the clock. The Hawkeyes tried to run a Hail Mary play with one second left after a fairly good return on the kickoff, but quarterback Cade McNamara wasn't even able to get the ball 40 yards down the field into the end zone.

This was a tough loss for Hawkeyes fans not just because they were hoping to see more from their team, but this was a rivalry game and they now have to hear from Iowa State fans for the next year about how they beat them in the Cy-Hawk Showdown this season.

So here are a couple of Iowa fans letting out their feelings about the Hawkeyes' loss to the Cyclones in the Cy-Hawk Showdown.

Can being compared to an NFL quarterback in this case be taken as a compliment? Unfortunately probably not, McNamara was a lot not closer to the end zone, and his lack of arm strength really showed on that throw.

This was a rough one for Ferentz and a very telling game. The Hawkeyes put up 40 points without Ferentz, but when he returned they scored only 19 and the game would have been tied if he chose not to go for the 2-point conversion.

That is a bold take because I don't think anyone can make Patrick Mahomes look that bad.

This is the real news Iowa and Iowa State fans want right now.

Notre Dame catching a stray here from Iowa fans, but they do make a good point. Notre Dame paid Northern Illinois $1.4 million to play them in South Bend and they lost because Northern Illinois hit a 53-yard field goal to take the lead with 30 seconds left.

Iowa fans seemed to have some hope after last week's win over Illinois State, but this week was always going to be a telling game, and it told fans that Iowa's offense is the same it always has been.
