It is official, Kirk Ferentz will be serving a one-game suspension for recruiting violations with Cade McNamara back in 2022. Yes, you heard that correctly, Kirk Ferentz has been suspended for offensive recruiting violations.

Ferentz and wide receivers coach Job Budmayr will both be out of the season opener against Illinois State. Budmayr had a previous relationship with McNamara that played into his decision to choose the Hawkeyes.

Iowa is under investigation, but it is still unclear whether or not the suspension came from the NCAA or from the university.

So of course with any sort of news, there is always a reaction on social media. So here are the best reactions to the Ferentz one-game suspension.

If you listen closely you can hear Iowa fans making their signs and wanting Ferentz to be free of his violation, especially since there seem to be bigger fish to fry when it comes to NCAA violations.

Ferentz has been around for a long time and is an older coach. Some fans believe he might have just confused himself and that is how he violated any sort of rules.

Ferentz is not known for high the best offensive mind, let's just look at last season when Iowa had the worst offense in the Big Ten and one of the worst in college football. Maybe a small change for one game at head coach could spark some chatter.

Iowa fans have their thoughts about Cade McNamara and his lack of offensive production. So some fans don't feel like the punishment is worth what McNamara has brought to the table.

Let's face it, we all know any team can be beaten on any given day, but it is Illinois State, it could be worse.

With the way the offense has looked in the past year, it is a cruel twist of fate that Ferentz would get caught recruiting an offensive player.
