Every Iowa Hawkeye currently competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics are underway and there are plenty of Iowa athletes competing for their country and medals.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are officially underway and there is lots to see and many athletes to cheer on from many different countries. While the Olympics may not seem like they have anything to do with college athletes, that could be further from the truth.

The Olympics have a lot to do with college athletics with both current and former athletes competing for their country and for medals. When it comes to Iowa Hawkeyes athletics, there are 11 former and current Hawkeyes currently competing for their home countries.

The Hawkeyes are competing in seven different sports representing six different countries. So here are the 11 former and current Hawkeyes representing not just their country, but Iowa on the biggest sports stage in the world.

Spencer Lee

Spencer Lee is competing in men's wrestling in the 57 KG weight group. Lee attended Iowa from 2017 to 2023 and was a two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner, a three-time NCAA Champion, a three-time Big Ten champion, a three-time Big Ten Wrestler of the Year, and a five-time All-American. He is competing for Team USA in his Olympic debut and going for the gold.

Megan Gustafson

Megan Gustafson will be competing for Spain's National Women's Basketball team. Gustafson played for the Hawkeyes back in 2015 through 2019 and is currently playing for the Las Vegas Aces. Gustafson in her time at Iowa was the ESPNW National Player of the Year, AP Player of the Year, Naismith Trophy Winner, Lisa Leslie Award Winner, and Big Ten Athlete of the Year.

Peter Jok

Peter Jok is yet another Iowa basketball alum competing in the Paris Olympics as he is competing with South Sudan. Jok spent five years at Iowa from 2013 to 2017 and finished his career 15 in Iowa career scoring, fourth in 3-pointers made, and is Iowa's all-time best free throw shooter.

Tomi Taiwo

Tomi Taiwo is one of the more recent Hawkeye athletes competing at the Olympics as she is with the Nigerian Women's National Team. Taiwo played for Iowa from 2018 to 2022 and even played with Iowa legend Caitlin Clark.

Kennedy Blades

Kennedy Blades is another wrestler competing for Team USA from Iowa as she is competing in the 76 KG weight group. Blades just recently signed to wrestle for Iowa this next season, the news coming just before the Olympics started. Blades is a three-time world medalist bringing home gold in 2021 and bronze in 2023.

Cassie Lee

Cassie Lee is one of three Iowa gymnasts competing at the Olympics. Lee is another recent signing for Iowa as she is set to begin her Hawkeye career in the 2024-2025 season. Lee is competing with the Canadian National Team that qualified for the all-around team final.

Aurélie Tran

Aurélie Tran like Cassie Lee is also a newcomer to Iowa this next season and is also competing with the Canadian National Team.

Sydney Turner

Sydney Turner rounds out the trio of newcomer Iowa gymnasts to compete for the Canadian National Team at the Paris Olympics.

Brittany Brown

Brittany Brown is the final Hawkeye competing for Team USA as she will be on the track after she qualified for the 200-meter event after coming in second at the USA Olympic Trials. Brown was an 11-time All-American and a Big Ten Champion when she competed from 2014 to 2018 along with setting school records in the outdoor 100 meters and 200 meters.

Cloé Lacasse

Cloé Lacasse is also competing for the Canadian National Team but she will be on the soccer pitch instead of the gymnastics mats. Along with representing Canada, Lacasse is currently playing for Arsenal WFC. Lacasse played at Iowa from 2011 to 2014 when she was Iowa's top point scorer in all four seasons.

Eve Stewart

Eve Stewart is the final Hawkeye competing in Paris as she is competing with Great Britain on the Women's Eight rowing Team. Stewart competed at Iowa from 2016 to 2019 appearing in almost every competition Iowa had on the water.
