Connie Hawkins is the best former Iowa player to play in the NBA. Hawkins technically played with only four teams because the Pipers made the move to Minnesota after his first season.
Hawkins had an amazing rookie season leading the lead in minutes per game with almost 45 and points per game with 26.8. He also averaged 13.5 rebounds per game and 4.6 assists during his rookie year. Hawkins was named an All-Star his first season and won MVP as a rookie.
In his second season, Hawkins played in 23 fewer games and averaged more points than he did the year before with 30.2. He came in second in MVP voting his second year but was still named an All-Star.
Hawkins moved around in his career, but he retired in 1976 averaging 18.7 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, and 4.1 assists per game. He was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 1992.
