Week 5 promised great things and it delivered in full!

This week featured what was the game of the season and could end up being one of the greatest college football games ever. Alabama and Georgia delivered on what was promised and gave even more than anyone would have expected. The SEC as a whole right now is delivering on being the top conference in college football and the Big Ten is following suit as the second-best conference.

So after an exciting weekend of college football, here is my latest prediction on how the College Football Playoff will shake out at the end of the season.

For the first time all season, there is a new No. 1 in town, and even though Nick Saban is gone, Alabama has found its way to the top. Even though Georgia took the lead for a short period of time, truly it was for a mere second, Alabama stayed calm, cool, and collected and went to their 17-year-old receiver Ryan Williams to regain the lead for what ended up being a game-winning touchdown.

The next three spots stayed status quo, with Ohio State beating up Michigan State, Miami having a close call with Virginia Tech, and Kansas State making a statement against Oklahoma State. Texas struggled against Mississippi State, probably the worst team in the SEC with Arch Manning at quarterback, so they dropped one spot to also make room for Georgia.

Ole Miss dropped after a bad performance against unranked Kentucky that resulted in their first loss of the season. Missouri made their way back into the rankings with the dropping of other teams. Finally, UNLV made its first appearance after a big win over Fresno State.

The UNLV Rebels dealt with a lot of drama this week when quarterback Matthew Sluka announced he would redshirt the rest of the season and most likely transfer after not receiving NIL money he was promised verbally but never signed a contract for. In a twist of events, the Rebels excelled without Sluka and put a beat down on Fresno State with their new starting quarterback.
