2024 Week 4 12-team College Football Playoff rankings prediction
Week 4 of the college football season is wrapped up, marking a quarter of the season officially over. There has been a lot of movement in the rankings within the first four weeks of the season, with some teams looking better than expected and some teams not playing up to the level everyone thought they would.
The SEC is dominating the top rankings, showing they are still a force to be reckoned with, even with conference realignment. Georgia and Texas are both trying to take that top spot in the SEC and even though the AP rankings have Texas ranked as No. 1, they aren't the top team just yet in these predictions.
So here are my Week 4 College Football Playoff predictions after an interesting Week 4 slate of games.
Rank | Team | Why are they here | Previous ranking |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Georgia | SEC Champion | 1 |
2 | Ohio State | Big Ten Champion | 2 |
3 | Miami | ACC Champion | 4 |
4 | Kansas State | Big 12 Champion | 3 |
5 | Texas | At-large | 5 |
6 | Ole Miss | At-large | 6 |
7 | Tennessee | At-large | 9 |
8 | Oregon | At-large | 7 |
9 | Penn State | At-large | 10 |
10 | Alabama | At-large | N/A |
11 | Utah | At-large | N/A |
12 | Boise State | MW Champion | 12 |
The Big Ten is still shaping up to be in Ohio State's hands yet again. Michigan had a big win over new Big Ten member USC, but they still have some work to do the rest of the season, including a game against Ohio State. There are some sleeper teams that are making their way to top the that could be a threat to the Buckeyes, but right now, Ohio State is leading the way.
Oregon and Penn State are still in the rankings, representing the Big Ten. The Big 12 has another team in this prediction, with Utah making their way back in. Even with a rough loss against BYU, I still believe Kansas State can win the Big 12, especially with the schedule they have ahead of them. The space between K-State and Utah is so thin that one wrong move by either team from here on out could be their downfall.
The SEC is also dominating these rankings with five teams making it in and it easily could be more by the end of the season.
