The new-look Iowa Men's Basketball squad continues to grow on and off the court ahead of the 2025-2025 college basketball season. During the summer, Iowa has held multiple practices and workouts to prepare for the upcoming season.
The 2025-2026 Iowa squad will look drastically different from last season after long-time Head Coach Fran McCaffery was fired and replaced with former Drake Bulldogs Head Coach Ben McCollum.
A large part of the new-look roster followed McCollum from Drake and aims to play a big role in bringing McCollum's culture and message with them to Iowa City.
One of those players that transferred from Drake, Cam Manyawu, will be an important part of the Iowa rebuild next season.
Manyawu has played for three different schools in three seasons, beginning his basketball career at Wyoming (2023-2024), before transferring to Drake last season (2024-2025), and now to Iowa.
Manyawu spoke to reporters this week during open media availability after a summer practice to discuss how the new-look Hawkeyes are doing ahead of the season.
In a portion of his interview posted by Iowa's News Now, Manyawu spoke about how he is settling in with the Iowa program.
Manyawu stated that this year has been a tougher transition, than last year, but moving with the same coach and group of players from Drake has made it easier.
He stated that it is always hard to find continuity with a new program, but when you move with guys who know the same system, there is more continuity.
Manyawu also stated that overall, everyone has had a good offseason after rebuilding the team from scratch, and everyone has acclimated well to what they want to do and the culture they want to establish.
The expectations for the new-look squad are high, as multiple media members like what McCollum and the players have done and can potentially do next season with Iowa.
