With official visit season looming, Iowa Football is pushing to add top talent to the 2027 recruiting class.
Every program in the country is looking to make a good impression on recruits, and the Hawkeyes are no different. The program had strong momentum on the recruiting trail during spring ball, locking up four prospects. It has quieted down significantly since then, but the program has kept its eyes on multiple four-star prospects to boost the class.
Iowa has an uphill battle to sign versatile DB/WR prospect Daniel Yebit
The 2027 class is rounding into form, but with only one four-star prospect committed, the program has been pushing to add more top talent, even if it means taking it from a rival.
After a great conversation with coach @TylerBarnesIOWA I am blessed to say I received my an offer from the university of Iowa @CoachLenti5 @YukonAthletics @MillersFB @Trentsmith88 @247Hudson @OK_HS_Football @TheIowaHawkeyes pic.twitter.com/fMpL0m1yML

Talented 2027 prospect Daniel Yebit announced he received an offer from the Hawkeyes, adding another to a growing list that includes multiple Big Ten rivals. Minnesota head coach PJ Fleck has been actively involved in Yebit's recruitment, giving them an early advantage.
Rivals currently projects Minnesota to land Yebit by a wide margin, and it's easy to see why he continues racking up the offers, largely thanks to his versatility and athleticism. Yebit excelled for Yukon High School in Yukon, Oklahoma, on both sides of the football last season, lining up at defensive back and wide receiver.
Yebit displayed excellent coverage in both man and zone, and his speed is a huge asset. He was often tasked with chasing down opposing receivers on the opposite side of the field, and he easily ran them down. He also has excellent instincts and the ability to get downhill and help in the running game.
He would be an excellent addition to the secondary thanks to his ability to play well in man or zone packages, so there is plenty of work to do in his recruitment. Iowa has had tremendous success developing defensive backs under Phil Parker, and adding Yebit would give the program an immediate boost.
Yebit has the potential to be a lockdown corner for the defense
Iowa has a very young secondary heading into the 2026 season, and if it can convince Yebit to commit, the transition to sustained success will be easier. Of Iowa's 17 defensive backs listed on the roster, nine are underclassmen, signaling that 2027 is going to be a big year for recruiting.
With star defensive back Zach Lutmer potentially heading to the NFL after next season and Deshaun Lee graduating, there will be plenty of defensive back reps to be had, and Yebit has the type of potential to make an immediate impact.
Yebit's speed and athleticism give him a leg up over most defensive backs, and he has the size to either slot in at corner or one of the safety spots, not to mention the versatility to play multiple positions. He could give something the Hawkeyes rarely have: a lockdown corner.
Phil Parker's defensive scheme relies heavily on everyone staying in their lanes and rallying to the football, but having a lockdown defensive back would be huge for the program. It is all speculation, but if Iowa can pry Yebit away from Minnesota and other programs, it will give the 2027 class an immediate boost.
Rivals currently ranks Yebit as a four-star prospect, Oklahoma's No. 6 overall prospect, the No. 19 cornerback prospect, and the No.148 overall prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
