The Iowa Hawkeyes football program has been well-represented during the four-day NFL Combine, with six out of seven former Hawkeyes completing their on-field workouts and measurements by day three. Day three brought us Kaleb Johnson, the highest-ranked, and most anticipated former Iowa prospect.

Johnson has people talking after his 4.57-second 40-yard dash time. He looks faster on tape than his time showed, but it is solid for a guy who is listed at 6 feet tall and 225 pounds. He will look to improve on this run during his pro. day.
This might be the best running back class ever...

Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, TreVeyon Henderson, Quinshon Judkins, and Kaleb Johnson are all first to early second-round talents. Cam Skattebo, Dylan Sampson, Devin Neal, RJ Harvey, Jaydon Blue, and so many others are starting…
Saying this running back class is deep might be an understatement. There are several first-round talents in the group, with Johnson's name being high on that list.
22mph on a run in game. He’s rb1

While Johnson's 40-yard dash did not jump off the page, Hawkeyes fans know what he brings. He is sneaky fast, and his athleticism at his size speaks for itself.
Kaleb Johnson feels like he has the same skill set as David Montgomery but I like him better as a prospect. More long-speed than short-burst, but makes up for it with excellent vision and contact balance.

Johnson is built like a truck and excels at running downhill with power. He might not have the high-end speed that other running backs in this class have, but he has excellent vision and uses it to his advantage.
For anyone saying that Kaleb Johnson's 40-time sucked...#nflcombine2025 #kalebjohnson https://t.co/vM1rdn6Hj6

Again, Kaleb Johnson has sneaky speed. Once he gets going downhill, he is hard to stop. The numbers during the season back that up, even if the Combine numbers don't.
Kaleb Johnson’s maturity over the past few years has been so impressive to watch grow. Dude deserves everything he’s getting right now. https://t.co/DEWaJqMH0v

Johnson attempted to showcase his speed and athleticism during the drills on day three of the 2025 NFL Combine, and he credits Coach Kirk Ferentz for getting him here. He notes that the Iowa Football program stresses the little details, and that was key to his success.
Overall, Johnson excited the fans with what he brings to the field. He might not be the fastest guy on the field, but that won't matter after coaches and scouts see how gifted he is on the football field.
