What potential QB1 Jeremy Hecklinski lacks in actual game experience, he makes up for with raw talent and confidence.

Hecklinski became Mark Gronowski's primary backup late last season, supplanting fellow transfer quarterback Hank Brown, and looked to be a lock for the starting job next season.

In typical Ferentz fashion, he has not and will not announce a starting quarterback until much later in the process, with Hecklinski and Brown both on equal footing right now.

Regardless of who takes the reins as the starting quarterback, Hecklinski is adamant that the offense will be elite next season.

Hecklinski believes they have the guys for the offense to be explosive next season

Iowa's offense made some strides in offensive coordinator Tim Lester's second season last year, and Hecklinski has a front-row seat to what they could potentially become next season.

Taking snaps as QB1, Hecklinski has growing confidence in what the offense can do, and is ready to lead an "explosive" group next season.

Hecklinski recently told members of the media that he thinks they are going to have an explosive offense because they have the guys to do it.

He mentioned the talented wide receivers they brought in, how good the tight end group is, and how big and good the offensive line is as reasons for his assertion.

Iowa's offense showed flashes last season, but struggled with inconsistencies. Now in year three with Lester in charge of the offense and a talented unit getting better every practice, they have the potential to make some noise next season.

Can Iowa FINALLY make its first college football playoff? That remains to be seen, but if the offense can sneak inside the top 100 overall and help the defense, look out.
