Don't look now, but Iowa Football potentially has the deepest running back room in the Big Ten.

The group dealt with injuries to multiple players last season, including Kamari Moulton, Jaz Patterson, and Xavier Williams, but this year's group's trajectory is much higher.

New running backs coach Jay Norvell has entered into a perfect situation with a loaded running back group, and the Hawkeyes could go four or more deep next season if everyone stays healthy.

Norvell's glowing review of four running backs is welcome news for Iowa fans

With the starting quarterback situation still unfolding and an unproven group taking over on the offensive line, having four stable running backs is a welcome sight.

Norvell has been impressed by what he's seen so far, and he had some interesting words to describe four of Iowa's talented running backs.

During media day, Norvell spoke highly of four Iowa running backs, including Kamari Moulton, Xavier Williams, Nathan McNeil, and new addition L.J. Phillips Jr.

Reading between the lines on what Norvell said to the media, Moulton and Williams look to have an inside track to the top two spots on the depth chart right now, but nothing is set in stone.

McNeil has become a versatile weapon in the passing game, creating an opportunity for an expanded role next season, while Phillips Jr.'s ability to run over people gives Iowa a good combo of speed and power with him and Moulton.

Norvell has plenty of options and can mix and match his group based on any situation they encounter.

Regardless of who the starting quarterback ends up being, Iowa fans can rest easy knowing the running back group has elite potential heading into next season.
