Jan Jensen and Co. are pushing all the right buttons on the recruiting trail to set the program up for sustained success.
After adding five-star forward McKenna Woliczko and Ella Stromdahl from Sweden to the 2026 class, the program continues to add top-tier talent. Woliczko is one of the best players in the class, and signing players of her caliber has been par for the course for Jensen. Even though Addie Deal didn't stick around long enough, the program has now signed back-to-back five-star prospects, and that trend could easily continue in the 2027 and 2028 classes.
Iowa reportedly hosted top prospect Jhaliana Guy on an unofficial visit
The program has been heavily focused on the 2028 recruiting class during the offseason, offering multiple talented prospects in the class. The program also got a massive gift from Stanford after Jhaliana Guy, Iowa's top 2028 prospect, decommitted from the Cardinal program, giving them a window to re-enter her recruitment.
The program reached out to her immediately and has now further ramped up her recruitment by bringing her to Iowa City for an unofficial visit.

According to 247Sports' Dushawn London, the program recently brought in Guy for an unofficial visit, proving how much they want to keep her in the Hawkeye state. Guy is currently ranked as the No. 1 Iowa prospect and the No. 15 overall prospect in the glass. Guy attends Clinton High School in Clinton, Iowa, and averaged a program record 24.4 points per game as a sophomore last season.
Jensen and the program have made it clear they want Guy to head north to Iowa City, and have been aggressively pursuing her since she decommitted from Stanford in early June. Adding Guy would be a massive win for the program, and they are doing all the right things early on to make the dream a reality. Guy will be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail as her recruitment progresses, but getting an early jump is exactly the right idea.
After Woliczko signed with the program, Iowa has a solid trio of bigs already locked in for the next few years, including Ava Heiden and Layla Hays, and the program's recruiting focus has been clear.
Iowa's heavy pursuit of talented guards on the recruiting trail identifies a clear program need
Iowa has already added talented sharpshooting guard Jada Seubert in the 2027 recruiting class, and has been making headway with 2027 combo guard Mya Wilson, Minnesota's No. 1 prospect in the class. Recently, the program's sights have been thoroughly fixed on the 2028 class, and bringing in Guy would be an amazing start.
Iowa has already offered nine players in the 2028 class, but Guy is the highest-ranked player. The program is definitely swinging for the fences, with all nine offered players ranked as four-star prospects. Obtaining more guard depth is paramount for the program, with transfers Dani Carnegie and Amari Whiting in their final years, and Chit-Chat Wright and Taylor Stremlow in their second-to-last seasons. It will be interesting to see how the new five-year, age-based eligibility rules play out for the program, but signing more talented guards is never a bad thing.
Guy can do everything on the court, especially on offense, and bringing her in to pair with Jada Seubert and potentially Mya Wilson would give Iowa one of the best backcourts in the country. It won't be easy, but Jensen must prioritize Guy in the 2028 class because not only is she an Iowa native, but her potential is also off the charts.
