Israel led the entire game in a dominating win over Spain

The main issue for the Spain Under-20 National Team has been consistency on the offensive end of the floor.

Throughout the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2025, the Spanish team has shot under 40 percent from the field (38.6 percent) and has been remarkably ineffective from beyond the arc and at the free throw line.

As a team, Spain has shot 25.6 percent from three-point range and 66.4 percent from the free throw line.

Spain has gone 2-3 in their last five games, including a disappointing 76-66 loss to Serbia in their previous game. Spain led for the majority of the game before allowing Serbia to go on a 14-0 run late in the fourth quarter, which took the lead and ultimately secured the victory.

After losing in the quarterfinals, Spain faced Israel in a rematch from their first game of the tournament. Their offense again escaped them, and Israel dominated from start to finish.

In one of the lowest scoring first quarters of the tournament, Spain mustered only eight points, and went on to score only 21 in the entire first half.

Israel came out strong, scoring 22 points in the first quarter, and led by 20 points at halftime (41-21). Spain's offense got going in the third quarter, scoring 26 points, but they were still outscored 29-26 by Israel.

Spain held Israel to 10 points in the fourth quarter, but could not complete the comeback, losing 80-69 and being relegated to the seventh-place game on Sunday.

Israel never trailed in the game, leading all 40 minutes, and winning the majority of statistical categories.

Spain had a terrible game shooting the basketball, shooting 29.7 percent from the field and 15.6 percent from three-point range.

Iowa Men's Basketball forward Alvaro Folgueiras posted another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Spain takes on Slovenia in the seventh-place game on the final day of the tournament. The game occurs on Sunday, July 20, at 10:00 a.m. Central Time.
