As the success of the Iowa Women's Basketball program continues to grow, so does the allure to play in Iowa City. The program was highly successful under former Head Coach Lisa Bluder, and aims to continue that success under Jan Jensen.

During Bluder's 24 seasons as head coach, Iowa had a 528-254 (262-145 Big Ten) record, including two Big Ten regular season titles (2008, 2022), five Big Ten Tournament titles (2001, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024), and back-to-back NCAA Tournament runner-up finishes.

A large part of the program's success is attributed to superstar Caitlin Clark. Clark set the college basketball landscape on fire from the minute she touched the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

She shattered multiple Iowa program and NCAA records, giving Iowa more national attention than they had ever received before her arrival.

The popularity of the Iowa program grew while Clark wore the black and gold, but incoming Iowa freshman Addie Deal stated the program has always had a certain allure.

During the early days of her recruitment, Deal mentioned that Iowa stayed in constant contact with her and offered her a scholarship while she was a junior in high school. She immediately accepted because of their dedication and the appeal of Iowa's style of play.

Deal is not the only top prospect that Iowa is trying to attract as they continue shooting for the stars on the recruiting trail.

2026 combo guard prospect Morgan Stewart announced she received an offer from the Iowa program.

ย Talia Goodman of On3 Sports has stated multiple times that Stewart continues to climb recruiting boards as her play improves.

Stewart has been on the varsity squad since her freshman year at St. John's in Washington D.C., and has improved her scoring numbers each season.

As a freshman, she averaged 5.3 points per game according to MaxPreps, increasing that to 9.9 points per game as a sophomore and to 19.8 points per game as a senior.

Rivals Industry ranked Stewart as a four-star prospect, Washington D.C.'s No. 2 prospect (No. 12 combo guard), and the No. 65 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

ESPN has also ranked Stewart as a four-star prospect and ranked her as the No. 56 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
