Iowa Football has begun preparation for the 2025 season with spring practices. The Hawkeyes are now practicing in full pads, as they ramp up workouts in preparation for next season.
The Hawkeyes finished the 2024-2025 season with an 8-5 record, losing 27-24 in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. Missouri was able to mount a late fourth-quarter comeback to seal the victory against the Hawkeyes.
Iowa aims to improve on their 8-5 finish and make some noise in the Big Ten this season. During spring practices, the Hawkeyes lost a freshman tight end to the transfer portal.

Iowa redshirt freshman tight end Gavin Hoffman announced he is leaving the program and entering the transfer portal.
Before joining the Hawkeyes, Hoffman was rated as a four-star recruit by On3 Sports. He was ranked as the No. 205 overall prospect and the No.2 prospect from Kansas in the 2024 recruiting class by On3 Sports.
Hoffman received First Team All-State and All-Conference awards as a senior at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas.
The six-foot-five tight end tallied 542 receiving yards on 22 receptions and caught six touchdowns as a senior (2023). He was also named an Offensive Player of the Year finalist.
Hoffman is a talented athlete who also earned a varsity letter in basketball in high school.
The Hawkeyes brought back junior Zach Ortwerth and senior Addison Ostrenga from last season and added redshirt freshmen Michael Burt and DJ Vonnahme to the tight end room. Graduate Hayden Large joins the tight end room full-time after taking snaps at fullback last season.
The 2025 Iowa Football roster is still taking shape as spring practices are underway.
