The recruiting momentum for Iowa football continues after a thrilling victory over rival Iowa State.
Kinnick Stadium hosted multiple prospects, including 33 from the 2028 recruiting class, making last weekend one of the first big recruiting weekends this season. Iowa not only locked up talented quarterback prospect Chase Grove after his visit, but also offered multiple other prospects who attended the Cy-Hawk rivalry matchup. One offer from offensive line coach George Barnett went to an intriguing in-state prospect who just started playing football a year ago.

The Iowa program has an eye for talented offensive linemen and has excelled at finding prospects and developing them in the system. A year after the offensive line earned the Joe Moore Award as the best unit in college football, George Barnett and Co. are trying to replicate those results by adding talented prospects from the recruiting trail. One prospect who has been gaining momentum during the latest recruiting cycle has a very interesting backstory, and Barnett is already impressed with his potential.

Dowling Catholic product Finn Day has started racking up Power Four offers after showcasing his potential in a short amount of time. Day just started playing football last season and is now on the varsity squad this season. After just three varsity starts, Day has picked up offers from Iowa, Iowa State, and Nebraska, showing how much programs value his untapped potential. Day, a six-foot-four, 280-pound tackle prospect from Des Moines, attended the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry game last weekend, and he raved about the experience.

It is wild to think that Day decided to go out for the football team last year and is already on the varsity squad with a growing list of Power Four offers, and Iowa is trying to jump in on the ground floor. Even though Day is currently an unranked prospect, that will likely change after his full year as a full-time starter, and it will be interesting to see where he lands after this season. Early in Day's recruitment, Rivals has given Iowa State an early edge in signing him, with Iowa close behind.
There isn't much tape out there on Day, but he has done enough to impress the Iowa coaching staff, earning a scholarship offer as an unranked prospect. Barnett and the program have clearly recognized something special in Day, or they wouldn't have offered him a scholarship. If Day develops his untapped potential this season and as a senior, there is no question he will shoot up recruiting rankings and could be a hidden gem for the Hawkeyes if they can convince him to head east to Iowa City.
