The Iowa Hawkeyes are now 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in Big Ten play as they fell 20-15 to No. 11 Indiana on Homecoming weekend. The Hawkeyes had yet another lackluster day on offense, only scoring 13 points as the other two were thanks to a safety by the defense.
Quarterback Mark Gronowski left the game early with what looked like a left leg injury. Gronowski had to be helped off the field and spent significant time in the medical tent before being ruled questionable to return to the game. Ultimately, backup quarterback Hank Brown ended up finishing the game for Iowa, and now all eyes will turn to Gronowski's injury.
Iowa was unable to get much going offensively throughout the entirety of the game, as they only found the end zone once on a Gronowski touchdown run.
It might be time for change at the head coach position at Iowa
Kirk Ferentz has been at Iowa for decades now, and while he has had his good years, however, lately he hasn't had much luck during the season. The Hawkeyes seem to play good enough in non-conference games, but when it comes to Big Ten play, the Hawkeyes seem to struggle a lot.
The Hawkeyes showed some offensive promise against Rutgers last week, scoring 38 points, but this week, against what is turning out to be a very good Indiana defense, they could only muster up 15 points, which was really 13 for the offense.
The call for Ferentz's job has been loud in the last couple of years, but it just might get louder and louder now if the wins don't start coming more and more. Iowa will now get ready to take on Wisconsin after a bye week, and if the Hawkeyes don't take down what is looking like a really bad Badgers team, Ferentz will really be on the hot seat.
