We are running out of words to describe new Iowa point guard Bennett Stirtz.

The first-round NBA prospect has racked up multiple preseason award nominations before playing a game for the Hawkeyes.

Stirtz has already been named to the preseason All-Big Ten First Team and was also named to the preseason All-American Second-Team.

Before joining the Hawkeyes after former Drake Bulldogs Head Coach Ben McCollum accepted the head coach position with Iowa, there were rumors that Stirtz would head to the NBA after a stellar junior season with Drake.

Stirtz ultimately decided to follow McCollum to Iowa City for his senior season and continues to add award nominations.

Over the weekend, Stirtz was added to the Bob Cousy Award Watch List. The Bob Cousy Award is presented annually to the best point guard in Men's College Basketball.

After being elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1971, Cousy wanted to ensure that his legacy was cemented and that the best collegiate point guards were recognized.

The Bob Cousy Award has been presented every year since 2004 in his honor.

Stirtz has the opportunity to join players like Kemba Walker (2011), Jalen Brunson (2018), Ja Morant (2019), and Braden Smith (2025) as a recipient of the award.

Last season, Stirtz averaged 19.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for the Drake Bulldogs.

Stirtz will have to knock off reigning Big Ten Player of the Year and 2025 Bob Cousy Award winner Braden Smith to capture the honor this season, but Stirtz is primed for a big year for the Hawkeyes.
