We are officially 95 days from the start of the 2025 season! While it is a fun time for fans, coaches are working diligently to prepare their roster for the upcoming season and beyond. It is no different for Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Football staff.

With the 2025 recruiting class already on board, the Hawkeyes are eying future talent to compile a talented roster.

Iowa has focused on the offense for its 2026 recruiting class, with all of its commitments residing on that side of the football. Iowa has made offers to multiple defensive players in the class but has not received any commitments.

Before fall camp begins, On3 Sports released updated rankings for the 2026 college football recruiting class, and the Hawkeyes snuck into the top 25.

The Hawkeyes' 2026 recruiting class is ranked No. 22 in the nation, built on the rankings of their potentially star-studded offensive line.

Of the nine total commitments, Iowa has received five from offensive line prospects. That includes four-star prospects Carson Nielsen, Hudson Parliament, and Gene Riordan, and three-star prospects Owen Linder and Colin Whitters.

The Hawkeyes also received a commitment from an interesting four-star athlete prospect, Marcello Vitti. On3 Sports industry ranking has Vitti as the No. 20 athlete prospect (No. 396 overall) in the 2026 recruiting class.

Vitti, a Detroit, Michigan native, plays for Divine Child High School in Detroit. Divnie Child is the same high school that current NFL star Aidan Hutchinson attended. Vitti pushed aside offers from in-state schools Michigan and Michigan State to join the Hawkeyes.

Vitti is a true two-way superstar for the Falcons. During his junior season (2024), Vitti tallied 1,614 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns, with 76 tackles (10 for loss) and 10 pass breakups on defense.

Vitti is a playmaker, giving the Hawkeyes another valuable asset in the 2026 recruiting class.

We are still multiple months away from the 2026 commitments becoming official, and the Hawkeyes are set up for future success with their recruiting class.
