After spring practices ended and the transfer portal window closed, college football is in a temporary holding pattern until fall camp ramps up. During the downtime, coaches will continue to scout ahead for prospects who can help their team in the future and prepare their current teams for fall camp.

During the 2026 recruiting cycle, Head Coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff have focused on the offensive side of the football. All nine prospects in Iowa's 2026 recruiting class are on offense.

This includes four-star prospects Marcello Vitti (athlete), Gene Riordan (offensive lineman), Carson Nielson (offensive lineman), and five-star prospect Hudson Parliament (offensive lineman).

On3 Sports ranked Iowa's 2026 recruiting class as No. 6 in the Big Ten and No. 19 nationally, with an 88.77 overall score. While there is still work to be done in the 2026 recruiting class, it is never too early too look ahead to 2027 and beyond.

On Thursday, Iowa offered three prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.

Jaiden Davis, defensive lineman

After meeting with Tyler Barnes, the general manager/chief of staff for Iowa Football, 2027 prospect Jaiden Davis, announced he received an official offer from the University of Iowa.

Davis is a six-foot-four, 247-pound defensive lineman from Middletown High School in Middletown, Ohio. He is currently an unranked prospect.

Davis has also received offers from Bowling Green, Kent State, Kentucky, and Toledo.

Josiah "JoJo" Pouncy, athlete

On Thursday, Josiah "JoJo" Pouncy announced on X that he received an official offer from the University of Iowa. In his announcement, Pouncy tagged Iowa assistant defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Seth Wallace.

Pouncy is listed as an athlete in the 2027 recruiting class, but if Wallace recruits him, the Hawkeyes are projecting him to play on defense.

Pouncy is a six-foot-three, 200-pound athlete from Taft High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.

Pouncy has received multiple offers from different programs, including Akron, Cincinnati, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (OH), Toledo, USF, and Western Michigan.

Reilly Newman, tight end

Reilly Newman announced on X that he has received an official offer from the University of Iowa. He tagged Barnes in the announcement and said he is blessed to receive the offer.

Newman, a six-foot-six, 220-pound tight end prospect from Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio, could be the next tight end to attend "Tight End U." He is currently an unranked prospect for the 2027 recruiting class.

Newman has also received offers from Bowling Green, Kentucky, Maryland, Oregon, Purdue, and Toledo.

After focusing on offense for the 2026 recruiting class, multiple offers were sent to defensive players for the 2027 recruiting class. It is still too early to determine the strength of the 2027 class, but the Hawkeyes are dipping heavily into their Ohio pipeline to steal talent from the Buckeye State.
