The Iowa players and coaching staff have put the Iowa State game behind them and are ready to welcome UMass to Kinnick Stadium this Saturday.
After last Saturday's crushing defeat at the hands of the rival Cyclones, multiple Hawkeye players and coaches stated they reviewed the tape on Sunday. By Monday morning, they moved onto UMass.
The Hawkeyes are extremely familiar with the Cyclones and their program, as the two schools have been playing since 1894. They are less familiar with UMass, as this will be the first-ever matchup between the two programs.
Iowa has extensive tape from UMass head coach Joe Harasymiak's time as the defensive coordinator at Minnesota and Rutgers. Still, they do not know what the UMass squad looks like after a large roster turnover.
One familiar sight on Saturday will be the honorary captain for the game.

Former Iowa running back Toren Young was named as the honorary captain for Saturday's matchup against UMass at Kinnick Stadium.
Young was a member of the Iowa program from 2017 to 2020 and helped the Hawkeyes win three Bowl games. Those games include the Pinstripe Bowl (2017), the Outback Bowl (2019), and the Holiday Bowl (2019).
During his career with the Hawkeyes, Young tallied 1,262 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 32 career games.
His best season was his junior year (2018), during which he accumulated 637 rushing yards and six total touchdowns (five rushing, one receiving).
Young will accompany the Hawkeyes in the locker room before and after the game, and will join the four captains at midfield for the coin toss before the game.
