High School senior Marcello Vitti is busy preparing for the 2025 football season with offseason workouts.
Vitti is a two-way star for Divine Child High School in Detroit, Michigan, playing all over the field on defense as a nickel, safety, and cornerback, while playing as a wide receiver on offense.
Vitti has been hitting the weight room hard before his senior year to prepare for the unknown during the 2025-2026 season. What is not unknown is where he will play college football in 2026 following his senior year.
He committed to the Iowa program in December 2024 after his junior year and was the first defensive commitment the Hawkeyes received for the 2026 recruiting class.
Vitti is one of 14 commitments for the Iowa 2026 recruiting class that is ranked in top 100 by 247 Sports and Rivals.
Rivals has ranked Iowa's 2026 recruiting class as the No. 33 overall class (No. 11 in the Big Ten), and 247 Sports has ranked the class as the No. 52 overall class (No. 14 in the Big Ten).
The rankings are subject to change as more prospects choose their college destinations.
As the Hawkeyes add more prospects to the 2026 class, one thing is for sure, there are solid reasons why Vitti chose the Hawkeye program.

In a simple, but powerful post on X, Vitti posted two photos with the caption "Why Iowa?"
The images feature a post highlighting long-time Iowa defensive coordinator Phil Parker as the No. 1 overall defensive coordinator in the nation, according to Andy Staples, and also showcase the number of active Iowa players in the NFL.
Vitti displayed why he is excited to join the Iowa program and hopes to make an impact as a part of a talented 2026 Iowa recruiting class.
