As the Iowa Football squad continues to prepare for the 2025-2026 season, they were featured during a training camp preview on the Big Ten Network.

The Big Ten Network crew spoke at length with Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz, with one topic focusing on him breaking the Big Ten conference all-time wins record.

Ferentz currently sits at 204 wins and will pass former Ohio State Head Coach Woody Hayes (205) next season.

After going 2-18 in his first 20 games, Ferentz is on the precipice of coaching greatness and should break the record next season.

Following the interview portion, the crew sat down to discuss how the Hawkeyes can succeed next season and in no surprise, it centers around the strength of the defense.

The crew spoke at length about how important Iowa's defense is with Phil Parker at the helm, and Jake Butt gave a memorable quote when he mentioned Parker and his defense.

Butt talked extensively about the Iowa defense and stated that "basically, if you just listen to what coach Parker says, and you do what he says, you are going to be in a position to make plays."

Parker often stays out of the spotlight while leading the Iowa defense to success year after year. Butt has always been high on Parker's importance to the program, and continues to give him high praise.

He also went on to say that the success of the Iowa defense is deceiving because it is not like they have top-five draft picks on the line or run "exotic" schemes, but "the sum is greater than the parts."

Butt had high praise for the Iowa system under Phil Parker, and if they can live up to the high expectations they face this season, Iowa will be a strong candidate to make noise in the Big Ten this season.
