Welker is coming off a perfect 27-0 season in which she did surrender a single point. She capped her perfect season with a dominating 10-0 win in the championship match of the National Women's Collegiate Wrestling Championships this past weekend.

Iowa Softball sweeps St. Thomas in their home-opening series

Iowa Softball welcomed St. Thomas to Bob Pearl Field for a double-header in their home season opener on March 12.

The Tommies jumped on the Hawkeyes early in game one as they scored a run in the first inning. It took Iowa until the third inning to pick up a hit, and it was an infield single by Devin Simon. Simon would tie the game one shortly after.

Iowa would grab another run in the fourth and an insurance run in the fifth as they took game one 3-1.

Pitcher Jalen Adams pitched her ninth complete game for the Hawkeyes and picked up the win. She moves to 12-2 on the season after the win.

Game two was a nail-biter until the end. No runs were scored, and extra innings were needed to decide the game. Iowa won on a walk-off hit by Avery Jackson in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Hawkeyes took the contest 1-0 and won game two and the series.

Pitcher Talia Tretton picked up her fourth win and fourth shutout of the season after the victory in game two versus St. Thomas.

The Hawkeyes travel to Bloomington, Indiana, on Saturday, March 15, to take on the Hoosiers at 5:00 p.m. Central Time to kick off Big Ten play.
