The Iowa Football program, under the tutelage of Kirk Ferentz, loves to recruit in-state prospects and develop them within the program. Xavier High School standout and Cedar Rapids, Iowa native Jaxon Rexroth fits that profile.

Before committing to the Hawkeyes in 2021, Rexroth was a two-way star for Xavier High School. During his senior year, Rexroth tallied 1,287 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, and rushed for 816 yards and 20 touchdowns.

HeĀ also added 39.5 tackles, four fumble recoveries, and three interceptions on defense, guiding his team to a state semifinal appearance.

Rexroth was a two-year letterman in football and baseball, and also was a four-year letterman in track.

Rexroth will be in the competition for reps at the linebacker position this season following Jay Higgins' graduation.

Ever since joining the Hawkeyes during the 2022 season, placekicker Drew Stevens has been a solid contributor for the Iowa special teams.

As a freshman for the Hawkeyes, Stevens handled all placements in 12 games, notching a team-leading 72 points. His 88.9 percent made field goal percentage also led the Big Ten.

During his sophomore year (2023), Stevens took a small step back in field goal percentage (69.2 percent), but still ranked first on the team with 73 points.

Last season, Stevens returned to form, making 86.9 percent of his field goal attempts, and scored 100 points as the offense struggled to put points on the scoreboard.

Before the 2025-2026 season, Stevens was named an Athlon and Phil Steele preseason All-Big Ten Second Team selection.
