During a slow period for Hawkeye Football, the program continues to search for future talent. Iowa has hosted multiple camps and has set meetings with prospects. Over the past week, the program has offered four prospects to boost its 2027 recruiting class.

Correll Buckhalter Jr., running back

After a successful meeting with the Hawkeyes, 2027 running back prospect Correll Buckhalter Jr. received an offer from the Iowa Hawkeyes. Buckhalter's father played football for rival Nebraska.

Buckhalter Jr. had a productive sophomore season for Covenant Christian Academy in Colleyville, Texas. Last season, Buckhalter Jr. tallied 769 rushing yards with 16 touchdowns on 129 carries.

Blake Betton, defensive back/linebacker

Iowa Football continues to try adding talent on the defensive side of the football in the 2027 recruiting class. After visiting Iowa City on Saturday, 2027 defensive back/linebacker prospect Blake Betton received an offer from the Hawkeyes.

Betton is a six-foot-three, 195-pound junior at Shakopee High School in Shakopee, Minnesota, and plays linebacker and safety. Betton is currently unranked by On3 Sports, 247 Sports, and Rivals.

The Sabres finished with a 10-2 record last season.

Tommy Riordan, defensive line/tight end

Another defensive prospect in the 2027 recruiting class received an offer from Iowa Football. Defensive line/tight end prospect, and the younger brother of 2026 Iowa commit Gene Riordan, Tommy Riordan, received an offer following a successful meeting on Saturday.

Riordan, is a six-foot-four, 240-pound prospect from Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Illinois. On3 Sports ranked Riordan as a three-star prospect, Illinois's No. 14 prospect, and the No. 455 overal prospect in the 2027 recruit class.

ESPN ranked Riordan as a four-star prospect, Illinois's No. 10 prospect, and the No. 235 overall prospect.

Keysan Taylor, defensive line/tight end

Keysan Taylor, an unranked 2027 prospect from Guilford High School in Rockford, Illinois, is the second defensive lineman/tight end combo to receive an offer from Hawkeye Football.

Taylor, a six-foot-four, 225-pound prospect has great size and athleticism and excels on both sides of the football.

In his announcement on X, Taylor mentioned Iowa Defensive Line Coach Kelvin Bell, implying the Hawkeyes are focused on him as a defensive prospect.
