Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz and his coaching staff have actively recruited for the 2027 class. Over the past few weeks, the Hawkeyes have hosted multiple football camps and made offers to 2027 prospects.
Iowa made offers to two hybrid defensive/tight end prospects (Tommy Riordan and Keysan Taylor), a linebacker/defensive back prospect (Blake Betton), and a running back prospect (Correll Buckhalter Jr.) within the last week.
During the offseason, the Iowa Football program has recruited heavily for the future as the landscape of college athletics is changing. At the beginning of June, Judge Claudia Wilken approved the landmark House v. NCAA settlement, allowing programs to pay athletes directly.
Ahead of the July 1 deadline to start paying college athletes directly, the Iowa Football program created the "Flight Funds" program as a "charitable avenue" for donors to give money to programs.
Fernetz is an old-school coach, but has acknowledged the importance these programs in adition to revenue-sharing programs to attract top talent.
As the July 1 deadline approaches, the Iowa coaching staff continues to aggressivley pursue prospects in the 2027 class. On Wednesday, the Hawkeyes made an offer to a defensive lineman prospect from neighboring Illinois.

After a strong showing at a recent Iowa football camp, 2027 prospect Chris Kasky announced he received an offer from the program.
On3 Sports ranked Kasky as a three-star prospect, Illinois' No. 13 prospect, and the No. 48 edge prospect in the 2027 recruiting class.
After receiving an offer from Iowa, Kasky received eight offers, including those from Kansas, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Purdue, Toledo, San Diego State, and Wisconsin.
If Kasky commits to the Hawkeyes, Iowa can benefit from his size (six-foot-five, 200 pounds) and athleticism on the defensive side of the football.
