A familiar face is returning to the sidelines in Iowa City. Iowa City native and legend Tim Dwight is returning to the place that launched his stardom.
Dwight was a legendary Iowa wide receiver and track and field athlete in Iowa City. At the University of Iowa, Dwight was a two-time football All-American (1996, 1997) and an All-Big Ten First Team Selection (1997). He was also seventh in Heisman Trophy voting in 1997.
Dwight also starred in track and field. On the track, he was a four-time Big Ten Champion and an All-American (1999).
After starring for the Hawkeyes, Dwight spent 10 years in the NFL for five teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and the Los Angeles Raiders.
During his 10-year career, Dwight tallied 2,964 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns on 194 receptions. He also rushed for 380 yards and three touchdowns on 53 carries.
On Wednesday, it was announced Dwight is returning to Iowa City in a new capacity.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Dwight is returning to his Alma Mater as an assistant coach. He will coach special teams and running backs.
Before becoming a star for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Dwight was a multi-sport athlete for Iowa City High School. He was named the 1993 Gatorade Player of the Year ahead of his first season with the Hawkeyes.
Dwight tallied numerous accolades and made multiple memorable moments as a Little Hawk and returns home to help guide his Alma Mater to future success.
