The Iowa Hawkeyes: so hot right now!

Outside of the horrible "Zoolander" pun, the Hawkeyes are starting to click in all three phases of the game and have dominated two of their previous three games.

Iowa traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, a few weeks ago for the annual battle for the Heartland Trophy, and it was not much of a challenge for the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes ran the Badgers out of their own stadium, blanking them 37-0.

After returning to Iowa City on October 18 for another Big Ten clash against Penn State, the Hawkeyes picked up another win after a gritty performance.

The trend continued last weekend as the Hawkeyes dominated the Minnesota Golden Gophers at home. The game was not only meaningful for the team, but the Hawkeyes had multiple prospects and potential recruits attending the game as well.

One of the potential recruits who visited, quarterback Tradon Bessinger, was committed to Boise State but made an interesting announcement a few days after he visited Iowa City.

Bessinger announced he is decommitting from Boise State, a short time after visiting Iowa City.

He was treated to a great Iowa game over the weekend, where the crowd was wearing all black, and the Hawkeyes destroyed Minnesota 41-3 to keep the Floyd of Rosedale in Iowa City.

The timing will seem odd to Broncos fans, and it gives Iowa fans hope that the talented quarterback prospect will flip his commitment to the Hawkeyes.

Rivals has ranked Bessinger as a four-star prospect, Utah's No. 2 overall prospect, the No. 13 quarterback prospect, and the No. 155 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

247Sports has ranked Bessinger as a four-star prospect, Utah's No. 6 overall prospect, the No. 24 quarterback prospect, and the No. 308 overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.

Bessinger has the size (six-foot-five, 210 pounds) and the ability to be a solid college quarterback. He has also shown the ability to make throws in the pocket or on the run, and is accurate on both.

After Mark Gronowski graduates following the 2025-2026 season, Iowa has two relative unknowns at quarterback with Hank Brown and Jeremy Hecklinski, and Bessinger could come in and immediately compete for the starting job in 2026.
